Physical Maps show the surface of the earth or a specific area.  For this purpose Klett-Perthes wall maps employ the traditional color scheme which runs from green (lowlands) via yellow and light brown to dark brown (high-mountain areas).  Differences in altitude are shown through shading.  The most striking feature of the Klett-Perthes relief maps is the way the relief contours are represented.  A diagonal view is used rather than the usual horizontal projection method.
